FAST BUSINESS START UP IDEAS FOR FRESH GRADUATES

You are welcome to this blog once again.I woke up today with some little secrets and i thought it wise to share it with you.
Fresh Graduates are those opportuned to have successfully completed their years of training from various institutions.Statistics have it that 1.8million students are graduated every academic year from the several institutions in Nigeria. It is no longer news that there aren't enough jobs to accommodate this large number. With fresh ideas and ginger to succeed in the shortest possible time,i suggest you channel that energy in starting something that would profit you with little or no investment.

Here are some business ideas that require relatively low investment, but which can yield high profits, if managed properly.

  • TUTORING SERVICES
As a graduate, you have imbibed skills and knowledge which you can pass on to others. A relatively large number of pupils at various levels are in need of help in various subjects, some of which you may be an expert in.

To begin with, you might be the only employee - the sole tutor, but your aim is to grow into a Tutoring Agency - a company that employs tutors who provide tuition services to clients.

If you haven't got a location for your tutoring business, you could start by tutoring pupils in their homes. As your business expands, you could conduct tuition at your own tutoring school. If you have a few friends and colleagues who share a similar passion for imparting knowedge, you could team up with them and put finances together to rent a small location and start your tuition services from there, expanding as you go.

To advertise a tutoring business, you need
GOODWILL - a friendly tutor is always the pupils favorite. You need to impress your first few students such that they tell others about you.
WORD OF MOUTH - this is one of the strongest forms of advertising but only works if you provide a top-class service.
PRINTING INEXPENSIVE BUSINESS CARDS AND LEAFLETS - which you can hand to friends, church members, parents or even pupils as they leave their schools in the afternoon. Thanks to social media and the emergence of Facebook, you can create a 'Page' for your tutoring business on facebook ,giving your business an online presence.Speaking of business cards, you might be able to win some through NigerianGraduate.com. 2.BAKING SNACKS AND DECORATING SERVICES
This may appeal more to the female audience, although some of the best known Nigerian cake decorators are men. To start this Snacks business, the most important thing you need is knowledge - yes, knowledge of how to bake.I know that majority of Nigerians can 'bake'. If you are serious about baking credible snacks, then I suggest learning this the proper way, investing some money to get the know-how.

Next, you need to invest in materials such as cake pans, tins, palette, knives, piping bags, tubes, pastry boards and of course, the ingredients for making them.Practice your recipes a few times until you are sure that you have your perfect recipe.

The beauty of this business is that it can be fully run from your home.
Considering that every other lady can 'bake',it is essential that you stand out and that you convince your potential clients that you have something different to offer. You MUST practice your recipes till they are next to perfect then get the decorating right(also by practising ).Next, you should make your business professional and formalised.

"Things to note":
-Get yourself a very lovely business name - your clients will be mostly women, and they are attracted to pretty names
-Get yourself business cards and a dedicated professional business email address (for more information on this, click here)
-Master your recipes. Invest some money in a cake school, or harness the power of the internet and learn various recipes online for free.
-Spend time practising your cake decoration.
-If you can afford one, get a website.

3. DECORATION SERVICES
This is a very lucrative business as every weekend or every other week day, there are
weddings, birthday ceremonies, prom nights, seminars, church programs and a host of other activities taking place everywhere.Make out time to learn more designs, modern decorations to make you stand out.Spread the word about your business and trust me,you'll be smiling to the banks.

4. WEB DESIGN SERVICES
If you studied  IT or a computing related subject, and have an interest in websites, then you may want to consider starting your own web design company. You could do this on your own or team up with a few of your former school mates. Thousands of businesses are getting online and need people to design and maintain websites for them.Web design is one of the most lucrative businesses today. The beauty of this type of business is that you could easily operate from home, provided you have access to electricity for at least a set amount of time each week such that you could dedicate quality time weekly to building your customers' sites. In addition, because the www (world wide web), is truly worldwide, your clientele do not have to be limited to people or companies based in Nigeria. If you offer an excellent service, then you have the potential to become a global business.

Even with your IT / computing degree, you will need to take some courses to develop your knowledge of the different programming languages (web designers all over the world need to do this, as you cannot learn everything in the University). Invest some time on the internet, looking through the various sites that teach you about programming languages.

*Things to note:
-You will need a website of your own, which will serve as your primary marketing tool. What your website looks like will determine whether or not people would like you to design their website.
-As much as possible, choose a domain name that includes the words 'web design'. This will help you with search engine rankings
-Get yourself listed in as many online directories as possible.
These and many more ideas would be elaborately discussed as you stay tuned with People, making a difference.
